Just Getting Started

Getting Started...

It all started on a vacation to Jersey. Sitting, bored in a hotel room while the kids slept and I lie restless randomly googling things on the internet. I remember browsing through Zillow all the while knowing we have no intention of moving. I just wanted to see what was out there. Then I spotted it! The house of my dreams was sitting there layed out on the pages in front of me. I never imagined that one night of boredom would change my life forever...

Fast forward 2 months later and here we were renovating our dream home. Taking on all new challenges and learning how to navigate reno on a budget. We set goals and failed at keeping timelines but before the year had ended we were feeling right at home. While we still have so many and I do mean So Many unfinished projects (the half stripped staircase, the few painted kitchen cabinets, the screened in porch, etc) we decided that we couldn't wait any longer to start our farm. Impulsive and reckless we went about aquiring animals one at a time with the notion of cuteness first, knowledge second, and all common sense ignored.

Throughout the process of learning how to raise these animals we invited into our lives, we experienced a number of trial and error moments. Some of these moments are funnier than others but that all depends on to whom it happened to me or my husband. I have a bought of bad luck when it comes to embarrassing moments but my husband Joe is reckless in the best way and that is an invitation for trouble.

This blog is going to take you through a journey of our mistakes, terrible decisions, hilarious antics, and the occasional win. We went from a family of 5 to a family of 30+ in a matter of months. The responsibility is never ending and yet incredibly rewarding. There are days you feel as though your life has become a chore, an endless string of jobs that keep you busy sun up to sun down. Then you realize these cuties staring back at you, depending on you, screaming for you at 6 am on a Saturday are yours. While that all sounds like whining when you read it back I know better. The rewards outweigh the stress! While I stand here staring out the back window to my beautiful barn, I watch as my "boys" (my large barn yard animals) run and play, I think to myself how lucky am I to have such a view.
